Ho Ho No: Christmas Special

What makes Christmas so special? Is it really the birthday of Jesus Christ? Did Christmas have some other meaning behind all of the other meanings around it? Who is Santa Claus? When is Christmas celebrated around the world? In this blog, I will explain all the merriment and egg nog drinking behind this archaic ritual.

1. Christmas is not the original birthday of Jesus Christ. In fact, some orthodox Jewish cultures do not even recognize Jesus as the Messiah. Oy Vey!In fact, he was born between the Spring and Summer seasons. Although there is no accurate depiction of the birth of this son of God, some say he was born on March 28 while Elizabeth's son, Mary's cousin John, was born sometime in June.

2. Christmas was originally a pagan holiday before it became the Christian holiday of the birth of Jesus. We may have some beautiful nativity scenes going on in our version of Christmas, but originally the pagan holiday was that of the day of Saturnalia. It was a holiday originally converted by the Romans. now what is even interesting is that this type of stuff happened very often in the relations between Pagans and Christians. Holidays like Valentines and Halloween are some oft he few pagan holidays that are now Christianized.

3.  Santa Claus was originally named after the following Saint Nicholas. However, Saint Nick didn't wear a red coat, have rosy cheeks, and command twelve reindeer to drive a big red sleigh. Saint Nicholas was from Turkey, a country near the Middle East but also nearby to some Eastern European countries as well (e.g. Greece, Bulgaria, and Romania). Saint Nicholas would often bring children some sweets or nuts on December 25th and eventually became known as Jolly Old Saint Nicholas as we know today.

4. Christmas is not exactly celebrated at the same time as the US. Christmas is celebrated January 6 in France (Joyeux Noël),December 1 in Australia, December 26th in British Canada and January 6 in French Canada, and December 27th to January 6 in Germany. Oh those Germans.

Well now that I have given you some holiday info for this year's holidays coming up or passed, now its time for you to do your own research on the rest of the holidays. My favorite holiday happens to be St. Patty's if you are wondering. Why? Because I am Irish! So now that you have some sort of sense on the holiday spirit and its official grumpiness that comes with it, I hope your days be merry and bright this upcoming Christmas.

Gobble Gobble Special: Thanksgiving Report

Since it is November, no this isn't about the fifth of November, I thought it would be a great idea to do a Thanksgiving special. First off, what wast he cause or the original Thanksgiving? Second, how did Thanksgiving become a national holiday? Third, do people around the world besides the US also celebrate Thanksgiving? Well good thing I did my research because I am going to talk about the big Turkey.

1. In the United States, Thanksgiving didn't become a holiday until 1863, the same year the slaves were freed from their bonds to their white masters. Lincoln wanted to create a day to celebrate and praise the benefit of Our Father who lives in Heaven and give glory to him. The whole purpose of Thanksgiving is to give thanks and pray to God Almighty for the wonders and the world he has given us.

2. Movies that depict Indians and Europeans talking with each other, are not all of what they seem. In fact when the Europeans came from across the pond, they were not welcomed at all. The Europeans used them as a means to an end, sometimes not in the way they Indians intended. The Indians were often given blankets full of small pox from the Europeans, or were placed into slavery by some of the colonies. In fact, Plymouth Massachusetts has a small tribe of Wampanoag Indians who celebrate a day of mourning for the loss of their own men.

3. Thanksgiving is celebrated in other parts of the world by people in Australia, Canada, and Puerto Rico, but their Thanksgivings are celebrated outside the month of October.

Thanksgiving is considered another religious holiday for the purpose of thanking the Lord and give praise to his creation of Earth, Space, and Humans. So now let us all enjoy the ways in which some religious feeling has put us in the mood for Turkey.

Why Do I Like Music?

I know that what I have been doing is nothing new, not is it the same way in which I have done the month of October. But the whole point of trying to switch my topics would include the fact that I am trying to find new ways to include such different topics.

But my obsession with music was very common at a young age. It made me feel like a person who had the ability to be myself and express myself in more than just words and writing, it is music and its deeply rooted to the Earth. However, without music, I actually act like Germaine in the clip above whose creativity and passion for the arts is hindered by the slump she purposely put herself into taking. Although, I do not get as aroused as Germaine when it comes to wanting a cup of coffee.

Music is such an importance to me because all I want to do, whenever I'n down or just not feeling anything inspirational, I would just turn on the music, either my record player or my iPod and just listen to the words and sounds that pour into my ears.

Even though, I explained some purpose behind my music obsession and maybe a bit more of how I live my life. But also, if this post seems too long, I am sorry if I just wasted your time.

Top Ten Bands

This section of the Top Ten list will include the notion of bands and their influence in everyday life. This list mentions rock and metal bands that have a might higher influence than those of the hip-hop and rap genre because rock and roll has survived for over sixty years of popularity and metal has been around since the 1970s for a total of forty-four years. I will include some Indie bands that are also the most influential in the creation of indie music.
1. The Rolling Stones come from the other side of the pond, but their music along with the Beatles have been integrated in many modern movies. The music is rock with a swig of blues and the band has created numerous chart topping hits like "I Can't Go No Satisfaction", "Jumpin' Jack Flash", "You Can't Always Get What You Want", and "Start me Up". The famous logo of a lip with a tongue sticking out is probably one of the most iconic fashion labels in every rocker's wardrobe. Their importance in the pushing of Rock and Roll in the 1960s has placed them in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 along with their sister rock band The Beatles.
2. The Beatles were also an iconic band in the 1960s. Although two of the former band members are still alive, they are second in influence. The Beatles also have some chart topping hits like "Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds", "Nowhere Man", "Let It Be", and "Twist and Shout". However, when the band split up, rumors that Lennon's wife Yoko Ono was the cause which in fact was not true. The band split and went their own ways due ti stylistic differences, but somehow were still able to attract an audience because of their former start status with each other.
3. The Smiths were another British band who reached iconic fame from the 1980s. Morrissey and his band members often wrote about songs that were related to their life stories or where each member came from. Some of the iconic Smith's tunes include "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out", "William, It Was Really Nothing", "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now", and "How Soon Is Now?" which was covered for the witch series Charmed in the 1990s. Although the band split up following the change in times, their sound was often used on the topics of political and social aspects.
4. Van Halen was one of the most memorable American metal bands of the 1980s. Their song "Running With the Devil" was about the ways in which rock and metal music have been called the music of the devil because of the particular topics that are mentioned in the songs which talk about the general rock motto of sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. The band is influential because of Eddie Van Halen, sone of the former member of Van Halen, brought shredding guitars and crazy triplet fingerings to the bands music. Some of the famous songs in which Eddie's crazy finger play are heavily included into the bands persona of a metal band are "Hot for Teacher", "You Really Got Me" which was the Van Halen cover of The Kinks original song, and "Panama".
5. The Cure is a British band who were the original creators of the Gothic rock genre. The band often used dark and somber lyrics to tell the actual meanings on things like love and all aspects of being in love, suffering pain from love or heartbreak caused by loving someone. The band has had a numerous influence in people who wanted to identify themselves as not a rock artists or a metal artists and gave another outlet for people whose songs might have been too dark for the public to hear.
6. Led Zeppelin was the first British band to introduce metal genre to the public ears. The band was increasingly popular because of how different the sound was compared to the soft syncopated rhythm of The Stones, Doors, and Beatles. The band created it's legacy with their infamous song "Stairway to Heaven" and from there the band has kept its fame and glory inside the Hall of Fame. Although the band broke up after the death of one of its members from a drug overdose,it is still a successful band whose record sales after their breakup has continued to climb with people who are interested in listening to new genres of music.
7. Depeche Mode was the first British band to introduce electronic music in the 1980s. Although I have mentioned that there was the first female electronic band in an earlier post, this was the band who led the ground work into electronic music that grew in fame in the 1990s following the fame of the infamous grunge band Nirvana with Kurt Cobain's muttering lyrics. The band itself wrote the song and their famous single "Enjoy the Silence" as a song about peace and quiet, relationships who have reached their breaking points, and the concepts of the novel The Little Prince. The band mentioned in an interview that the music video was about a king who has no kingdom who wants to enjoy the sounds of silence or nature because of its quiet tranquil use. The band has numerous singles but if you ask your parents about this band, "Enjoy the Silence" would be the one they know off the top of their heads.
8. Nirvana is the all-American band who created the forms of grunge rock and the entire genre of grunge music. The infamous song by the band, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and its music video shows us what kind of future we choose.
9. The Ramones were another great American band. Although the last remaining member of the band previously died, they were the first band to introduce punk rock to the growing number of people who want to find other rock outlets for their own personal rebellious streaks.
10. Jimi Hendrix might not have been the first to discover psychedelic rock, but he was the most iconic symbol of the sound. Originally, psychedelic rock is by Frank Zappa. But we all know Jimi Hendrix due ti reference to his music in a couple of movies. If it s anyone people should respect, we should respect Mr. Hendrix.

Top Ten Male Singers

In this blog post, we will look at the top male singers from bands or those who have their own solo career. This could include famous people whose death lead them to become the most influential artists in the 20-21st centuries.
1. Freddie Mercury was the front singer for the band Queen. He studied opera and then worked his way into singing for the best glam-rock band. Originally from the country of Zanzibar, located in East Africa, Mr. Mercury was born under its British Protectorate under the name Farrokh Bulsara. Well onto his death from complications due to AIDS, Bulasra became one of the leading composer for the band Queen and worked on some of the numerous hits like "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Somebody to Love", and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" to name a few. He is considered one of the most inspirational singers who could sing four different ranges.
2. Kenny Loggins is a singer that most people know for his part in making songs for movies like Top Gun (1986), Footloose (1984), and Caddyshack (1980). Although his other music sounds very somber and unable to listen to, his most memorable songs will be played as long as he lives. He is one of the minor rock singers who can get away with sounds that are not similar to rock, but he was unable to get an audience for his music outside of the movies he created the top hits that got him into memory lane. In general, Loggins is influential because so many people will remember his music for movies that Tom Cruise and Kevin Bacon portrayed the main characters in some of the decent works that got them famous in the first place.
3. Sting who is also known as Gordon Matthew Thomas from the band The Police who are known for some of their songs like "Roxanne" and "Message In A Bottle" to name a few. The band was widely successful until they split up for their own reasons on why it couldn't go any further. Sting was able to take his solo career and become a hit favorite for those who like the sound from the band he originated from. He kept the same sound found in some of their ballads, but he continued with the mellow and souful sounds of love like in his top hit song "Desert Rose" which combines the sounds of traditional Arabic music with that of guitars and calls to payers.
4. Morrissey is the stage name of the British singer Steven Patrick Morrissey. He is commonly associated with the band The Smiths but he also has done some side projects of his own music. Morrissey is known to get into trouble with his opinions of politics and the way he views Queen Elizabeth II of England. But we love him anyway because of how smooth and soft his voice sounds over the guitars and drums of his albums spanning from the late 1990's into the early 2000's. His recent album World Peace Is None Of Your Business sparked some love hate relationships within his fans. But the message was clear: the world is full of deceit and lies so what's the whole point of peace when everyone wants something else besides love and understanding?
5. Ozzy Osbourne is the prince of darkness. He is famous for his part in the metal band Black Sabbath of the 70s. His songs from that band include "Iron Man" and "War Pigs". His top hit song from his solo career comes from the album Blizzard of OZ (1980) which was "Mr. Crowley". Although Ozzy hasn't done as much drugs as Mick Jagger, he certainly hasn't stopped using them when he hints at smoking pot in one of his songs. Even though there are people that may not like this musician, he is influential for those who love metal and those who enjoy a bit of the crazy train.
6. Ashton Nyte is a South African native born musician who has much better luck in the United States than in South Africa. He is the front singer for the South African band The Awakening but he is also known for his solo albums. He has the ability to write music in both Afrikaans and English, but he is influential to the indie sound that pours from his guitar and vocals. His deep sounding voice is just hypnotic enough to move a person into learning about love, hate and independence.
7. Sir Elton John  may have some great hits here and there, but his use of pop and bits of flare might also contribute to his influence on another famous msuciian named Cee Lo Green. Some of Sir Elton Johns famous songs would include "Crocodile Rock", "Tiny Dancer", and maybe his infamous love ballad that was used in Disney's movie The Lion King known as "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?"
8. Brett Michaels is the former member of the 1980's metal band Poison but the famous musician is mainly known for his famous song "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" which deals with the heartbreak and loss of losing someone he once liked who was cheating on him when he heard another male voice in the background as he was working on the laundry in a nearby laundromat. His music has been continuing the sound of his time with the band, but his influence would be through the importance of the song when it was used in the film Rock of Ages in which Tom Cruise played the singer Stacy Jaxx who sang this song when he was in love with the reporter who was writing about his music and career.
9. Billy Idol is the punk rocker that is most famous for his signature white hair, leather jacket, and single piercing on his ear. His famous song is the most pretentious one about a girl who wants sex and describes the volume in which she engages in the sexual acts. His influence on punk rock is similar to the styles of bands like The Clash and Sum 41.
10. Elvis Presley is the associated musician who made rock and roll cool for the young and rebellious youth, but his music is influential to bands like Beatles, Stones, and Doors due to the implants of blues with the rock sound. Even though the man is dead, he is still the most notable singer who placed rock and roll as a sexual and satanic act since the 1950s. Now Elvis can you please keep your pelvis far from me?

Top Ten Female Singers

So I an going to try and do something that is not completely something I do today and that is write an actual blog. I want to try and incorporate some blogs on people's interest so I will write out a top ten of singers and bands and of course some of the very interesting genres that seem very relevant to the changing times. In this top ten we will look at the individual female singers, their continuing inspiration to young girls or use something like mental problems to motivate their encouragement into working on changing the system to meet the accommodations of people's needs.
1. Emilie Autumn originally started out in Germany as a musician after failed attempts at singing with any American company because they altered her music demos. She had her first album when she was 18 years old called Enchant. It was a blend of multiple genres so that once she found the right sound and the right genre, she would begin her tours down the insane asylum that spread awareness of mental disorders. The artists herself has opened up with suffering from bipolar disorder after she tried to take her life and has been keeping her audience aware of the current situation with the problems in correct mental diagnosis and that she used her music to achieve independence and freedom from her former home life in California where she is originally from.
2. Stevie Nicks was the singer for the band Fleetwood Mac for awhile and has been a continuing inspiration to many other artists. She is known for her mystic qualities and the smoothness in her voice. Her song Edge of Seventeen was a tribute song to the death of John Lennon, former Beatles band member, and her father's brother because both men were considered important to Nicks. Some of her other iconic songs outside of Fleetwood Mac would be Stand Back and Stop Draggin' My Heart Around which Stevie Nicks did a duet with Tom Petty who also helped with creating the song. She has denied the rumors about her being a real witch, but we can't say her voice is a bit witchy and mesmerizing at the same time.
3. KT TUNSTALL is originally from the UK and is the daughter of a Scotch-Chinese mother and Irish Father. Her first CD was released in 2003 titled Eye To The Telescope. KT Tunstall has a very mellow and soft sounding quality, but her music is very connected to her Scottish roots. She has had numerous hits on the record charts with songs like Black Horse and a Cherry Tree, Hold On, Suddenly I See, Saving My Face and If Only. She has taken a break from the sound of the electric guitar and has gone back to working with its acoustic properties.
4. Zola Jesus who is originally named Nika Roza Danilova, is a Russian-American singer from the Washington State area. She is an Indie Rock musician who studied opera like Pat Benatar and has produced five albums and three EPs. Her passion to write Indie music comes from the woods in the Washington area that she believes are full of mystery and wonder.
5. Jessicka Fodera is the former singer for the feminist punk band Jack Off Jill and is the front singer for the Indie band Scarling. During the times she spent with the band Jack Off Jill she got into trouble with their helper Marylin Manson in an incident at one of their concerts. But since then she has cleaned up her act and is an artists who showcases her art in art galleries around New York. in her recent group Scarling. The band consists of herself and another founder known as Christian Henjal-Addams who formed the band in Los Angels, California following the breakup of Jessicka's previous band in the late 1990s. The band has produced two albums and continue to tour around the states since 2002.
 6. Coeur de Pirate is also known as Béatrice Martin and hails from the French-Canadian city known as Quebec. She has only produced two albums and hasn't toured since the birth of her child, but she is a heavily famous French singer from our side of the world. She sings mostly about love or things that could never happen between two people. Her most famous songs include Comme des Enfants, Adieu, and Golden Baby.
7. Sara Bareilles is a singer whose number one hit is the most repetitive love song to be sung by the general public since it came out in the mid to late 2000s. The song was written as a form of frustration that she made it late to the recording studio because of the continuous strain of red lights, it wasn't even about love. But the song has continued to be a chart favorite since she took the rocket and flew to the moon.
8. Susan Wallace and Tina Root are the co-founders and singers for the electronic band Switchblade Symphony. The female singers led the band to become a big success. They were known as the first female members to create an electronic band following the rise and fall of the popular feminist punk bands of the third wave of feminism. The band members wore their hair in dread-lock pigtails and sang about drugs like cocaine in their song Clown. The band has since broken up, but the artists have continued to work on their separate music by including the same sounds that they used in their original works with Switchblade Symphony.
9. P!NK is also known as Alecia Moore. She has scored numerous top hits and has experimented with different genres like Rock, pop, and hip-hop. She is the most fluid singer because she music follows the different styles and explores the ways in which her life was evolved from when she first started in the spotlight and how it emerged from spotlight to fame. Her album Funhouse was dedicated to her former boyfriend, now her husband, and talked about the point in her life where she truly loved him and didn't want him to go.
10. Amy Winehouse will be immortalized as the young musician who took her life at the top of her career. Her music showed her life and how she was addicted to drugs and alcohol which ultimately took her life. She has won several awards for her songs like You Know I'm Good which was featured in the British Television series Secret Diary of a Call Girl which Billie Piper plays the infamous Belle du Jour who was a London call girl trying to earn money for college in which she is now a doctor.

If you feel unsatisfied at the list above, leave a comment about what you think makes a female artists one of your top ten. Tune in next for the top ten male singers. It surely won't bite the dust.

Why Do I Like Movies So Much?

Since I was a little girl, I was constantly glued to the television screen. I was mostly sick with things that could be cured with antibiotics like PneumoniaSinus Infections, and of course the favorite illness for little children would have to be along the lines of Tonsillitis because you get free ice cream and Strep Throat because that gives you inflamed tonsils to begin with. I could always be healthy for one year and then have one or two illnesses the next year. But whatever illness I had, I got a nice warm blanket, soup and soda a day, and twelve hours of movies until I was sick for too long and then I had to do homework.

Movies were always my past time since I lived in a home where I had enough privileges that I could get away with watching too much TV for the purpose of making me feel better while the days went by. I personally had some favorite movies I would play over and over again like Kiki's Delivery Service and Alice In Wonderland because one, I enjoyed having an imagination and two, I like films that are more than just American movies like the popular Japanese Miyazaki films. Especially when you have seen those Scooby-Doo movies that you would want to see once, but you could also play again if you choose.
But why so many movies in one day? Well, what would you do if you were sick? You probably never went outside or even got out of the position you were in because you were so tired all the time. But there is also another reason why movies are so popular with me, they explain a lot about different philosophies or morals that have been implanted in Christian values that are still currently active in the modern age of society. So if you think films like Do The Right Thing  or Big Fish are not labeled as Christian movies to you, they kinda are since they focus on two aspects on modern ethics and Christian morals. I am not here to convert you to Christianity or talk more into Christian values and morals that people should follow, I'm just saying what is and what is not the common meaning behind some of the movies you might have seen in childhood or in your adult life.

When you think of movies, you often go to movies you have seen in childhood or movies that might have placed a value in your life that drives you to become a successful pawn in the game of the twenty first century society. All I know is that movies are always going to be part of my life because of how much importance in what makes me a person has been implemented in and out of my life experiences.

What Would Happen to Tim Burton Moves?

Tim Burton is perhaps one of the many movie directors that adults and children love. we have all seen his first clay animated movie Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) and we have seen him use popular actors like Johnny Depp (e.g. Barnabas Collins, the Mad Hatter, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Ichabod Crane, Willy Wonka, and Victor from Corpse Bride) and Helena Bonham Carter (e.g. Mrs. Lovett, The Queen of Hearts or The Red Queen, Jennifer Hill/The Witch, Emily the Corpse Bride, Mrs. Bucket, and Dr. Julia Hoffman). But the more relevant question would be what you happen to those awesome movies?

As I have mentioned with Mel Brooks and Quentin Tarantino, there will be a movie marathon played on every movie channel and also as the main epicenter of Disney owned television shows for every Halloween and Christmas. Plus there would also be a chance to create a great present for birthdays, Valentine's, or Christmas and that would be a collector's set of all of Burton's movies. You could have all his clay animation in one set, all of his acting roles with Depp and Carter in another. Who knows, maybe the ultimate collector's set could include films he either produced under his name or directed along with other famous movie directors like Coraline  or the movie 9.
For what we know, they might even take Tim Burton's movies and do something way out of the ballpark like a theme park dedicated to Burton. Remember what they did with Harry Potter when Universal studios took J. K. Rowling's novels and created a small section of their theme park and made it a magical world for witches, wizards, and muggles alike? If that ever happens to any of Tim Burton's movies or side projects, I would personally go there for the rest of my life. Well according to some online forums for people who are obsessed with anything Burton, Disneyland is talking with Burton in creating a section of their park dedicated to his first animated movie, you guessed it Nightmare Before Christmas. However if there was just a place where it was nothing but all of Burton's movies, it would be founded in the next version of weirdest theme parks that just might make everyone's bucket list. I's sure everyone would love to let the Mad Hatter hat them in the finest Burton accessories or make friends with the Red Queen while painting the roses red. Perhaps you could let Edward Scissorhands turn your bushes into a work of art.

What Would Happen to Quentin Tarantino's Movies?

Every person has seen a Quentin Tarantino movie sometime in their life. It could be both Kill Bill movies, Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski, which inspired a philosophy and a religion named "Dudeism". For some people, many remember the famous line from the movie Pulp Fiction when Samuel L. Jackson dares the man who is eating a Hawaiian hamburger to keep saying the word "what" one more time.

If someone like this famous movie maker died, what would happen? Well like all famous actors or movie producers and directors, most movie channels would play a movie marathon in honor of their name. Unless you are Patrick Swayze, then it is continuous Dirty Dancing which made him big in the movie business. For Tarantino, they would play some of his hit movies like the ones mentioned in the above paragraph, or maybe some other movies that he recently made such as Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained with brad Pitt as the American solider in charge of a group of soldiers who murder Germans on the spot with the help of their friend The Bear Jew (pronounced der Bär Jew) and Leo DiCaprio was the white plantation owner who treats the wife of one of his former slaves like his own personal whore. (Nice touch Leo).
Whatever happens to Quentin Tarantino, he will never be missed. No matter how many movie marathons happen to celebrate the honor of his timeless rated R classics, the most thing that people would do, is to quote their famous movie lines from their famous movie characters that are located in the movies. For me, I would personally want to end this post with one good quote I really enjoy from Tarantino's movie:

What Would Happen to Mel Brooks Movies?

Mel Brooks is the funniest man on Earth. He is purely recognized for his comedic movies and their parody functions. Mr. Brooks recently won a medal for AFI Life Achievement Award given by the American Film Institute.

Despite the fact that Mel Brooks may be a bit Kosher about his movies, he is nonetheless pure comedic gold. In these next upcoming blogs, we will look at what might happen to the movie industry if it lost all its infamous stars based primarily on the influence of movies and technology that has warped our culture around the lives within the screens.

Now the question is simple, what would happen if Mel Brooks died in the following year or two years from now? Well there might be the occasional tribute movies to his legacy of making people laugh, but there might also be the everyday tragedy that we lost the comedic genius that gave us movies like Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.

First off, there might be a couple days or mourning for the loss of this wonderful man and his Jewish innuendos. Not only did he impact the life of our parent's generation, but he also placed an implant of comedy within the minds of young people. (If I have to ask how old you were when you saw your first Mel Brooks movie, you're definitely young enough to be Charlie Browned). Plus when you watch his movies, if you choose to watch them as a form of mourning, then you an remember the many moments your father or mother would have laughed at the parts and phrases like "More beans Mr. Taggert?", "What the hell are you doing in the bathroom all day and night, why don't you get out and give someone else a chance?", and my personal favorite "I'm so tired".

Second of all, Mel Brooks has a son named Max Brooks who recently created a movie on the Zombie Apocalyptic cult following that has happened since the Resident Evil series. The recent World War Z movie has been a direct hit since we have the ever charming Brad Pitt as the heroine of the story even though the movie is about the outbreak of a disease that can alternate and turn anyone into a zombie, very much like rabies, there might be a bigger obsession with this based solely on the fact that the director is the son of the wonderful Mel Brooks.

Third, Brooks movies would be sold in the iconic collector's edition like they did with Albert Broccoli's James Bond movies starting with Sean Connery and ending with Daniel Craig. The use of collector's edition of movies and television shows would emphasize the popularity and the influential notion of that all Bond agents are womanizers and alcoholics and all Mel Brooks movies are spin-offs of Hitchcock, Shelly, and the racist life of the Wild West which did not just make racial jokes on  minority ethnic groups, but also the majority of Americans who might just be plain stupid. Sorry Mongo, your quote of philosophy might not have worked on making you any smarter.
Finally, Mel Brooks will be immortalized forever as the man who gave us funny movies whether he was part of them or not. His roles as a governor, a man who is afraid of parents (nee heights), and Rabbi Turkman who gives adult men circumcisions with a tiny guillotine. He may have some spots in his movies, but it doesn't matter about the roles he played or the movies he made, its just the memory of seeing Blazing Saddles when you were seventeen or younger and watched it with your parents who might have been scarred for life that you wanted to watch it in the first place. God Bless you Mel Brooks and keep making movies until the day you die.

Addams and the Munsters: Perfect Family for the Problematic People

The Addams family is a normal American family where their children are often seen as strange and unusual, problems with the law, readers who are interested in deaths caused by disease or mysterious Earthly creations like the Bermuda Triangle. The Munsters family are a family who recently moved from Transylvania to America and are trying to co-operate with the normal day life of being a monster family. The Munsters were based on the classical Halloween monsters , such as those of Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman, while the Addams family represents the normal American person who might be a possible homicidal maniac. But why are these families so prominent in the everyday interaction of people during October? Well, it could be that they are just like us.
The Addams family were originally created by a man known as Charles Addams, he created the cartoon version of the Addams family which then led to the creation of the Addams family TV series with Carolyn Jones as the beautiful Moritica, the love of Gomez's life and is often excited by her bouts of French words and phrases. Their children, Wednesday and Pugsley are often seen playing in the front yard or beheading dolls. Wednesday is a bright and intelligent young girl who has an obsession with spiders and has a pet tarantula named Homer. Her brother, Pugsley is often getting in trouble with the cops. In the movie Addams Family Values (1993), he is on probation when he goes to the summer camp with his sister. All the family members in the Addams family have psychopathic tendencies. Their philosophy is often carved on the tomb of the original makers of the Addams family tree known as, Sic gorgiamus allos subjectatos nunc! (We gladly feat on those who would subdue us!). That being said, most of the relatives in the Addams family tree come from forms of incest within family members or from other clans who are much similar to the Addams family.

The Munsters are a wealthy monster family who recently moved from Transylvania. The father is Herman Munster, the creation of Dr. Frankenstein and his wife is Lily Munster who is the daughter of Dracula. Their son is named Eddie and he is a young werewolf who is entering grade school. Their cousin is named Marylin to represent the infamous movie star Marylin Monroe who was an iconic sex symbol of the 1960s. She is often seen as the ugly duckling because she does not have the beautiful features of Lily Munster. Although many boys are seen flocking to Marylin due to her good looks, they're often scared away when Herman answers the door. This is a typical monster family that represents many of the social outcasts that might have suffered from the same social shunning of society because they are different in looks, ideas, and understanding of culture.

The importance of these Halloween families shows the impact on how a normal family would be assoicated in the culture that has been changed and modified to fit new social habits.  Wednesday and Pugsley may not be the best students or children in an American family, but the importance shows that the children are loved by their parents and follow the rules of the adults since both Wednesday and Puglsey make their parents very proud. The Munsters might be similar to a family who has recently moved in or out of state and are having difficulty or managing to find a balance between their life and the life of other people. They challenge the ways that American society has been structured by technology and what it means for a family who has recently moved to a new place, to adjust to their new surroundings even if that means you have to break a few mirrors with your downright good looks. Both of these iconic television families might not meet the normal standards of the American society, but TV sure says that they are definitely living their true American dream. Plus who doesn't agree that Moritica has some sense around the concept of normal when being normal is utter chaos.

BPD: Borderline Films On Functioning

Borderline Personality Disorder (or also known as BPD), is a behavioral mental disorder on the ways in which something traumatic has occurred and causes the person to develop behavioral habits that are considered not normal to the behavior the person might have exhibited in the past before the change happened. Some symptoms of borderline personality disorder include: self-harm, unable to stabilize emotional feelings, problems within a relationship (e.g. shift from positive to negative immediately or threat of losing them due to unable to tell information on what troubles the person), and abuse of alcohol and drugs or sexual behavior that is not commonly found in the person (e.g. partaking in orgies, engaging in multiple partners).

The movies that commonly represent this behavior are A Street Car Named Desire (1951), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), Anna Karenina (2012 remake), and Girl Interrupted (1999). All of these movies portray their major characters suffering from this self-harming problem. Angelia Jolie portrayed a young woman who suffered from self-harming and also portrayed forms of anti-social behavior. Her character is a girl who has gone in and out of the psychiatric center, but is often dragged back for further treatment by the police. She is constantly getting in trouble with the law, she is very aggravated and easily angered. Winona's character shows borderline personality disorder, but she shows the more emotional and sexual behaviors of the disease while Angelina's character expresses the drug habits and the continuous escaping from the mental facility for fear of electro-shock therapy.

Borderline Personalities often have problems with explaining their behavior and often have problems with controlling their emotions and how easy it is for someone to take to drugs and other forms of coping mechanisms to function normally in the social atmosphere. Movies play a prominent role in showing this form of mental illness because most people who suffer form the disease could range from the kid who has low-self esteem to the girl who uses forms of eating disorders to gain the attention of her male counterparts. If you or anyone you know has this problem, get help or contact a local psychiatrists for an appointment and see what can be done to correct the problem. The longer you wait, the more likely you are willing to hurt yourself out of existence.

Imagination or Voices: Schizophrenia and It's Friends

Schizophrenics are some of the most interesting people. They suffer from delusions, paranoia, and the everyday problem of hearing things that are not there. Schizophrenics can be either quite difficult to manage because the symptoms are so severe or they cannot be treated because the progression is consistently changing. Although you can medicate most mental disorders, Schizophrenics are very clever and know how to hide their medication from the doctors or from loved ones and continue to express their symptoms.

In most fictional stories and movies, there is always something about one particular character that seems to create some form of interest among the audience. In many movies like Friday the 13th (1980), Donnie Darko (2001), Sucker Punch (2011), and Black Swan (2010) express some notion of schizophrenia. For some people it could be that the voicing that occurs in the first Friday movie is some notion of schizophrenia, but the clear case of schizophrenia would be commonly found in Donnie's condition in seeing the image of a bunny costume who calls himself Frank or Babydoll who dreams she is in some form of Wonderland where she must fight in her own fantasy until she is able to find peace inside her mind. But all these are notions of schizophrenia.

Some symptoms of schizophrenia would include and are not limited to: hallucinations/delusions, disassociation in thinking/speaking, depression, drug use, and anxiety disorders. A common indicator or a mental instability would be the common drug use found in people who suffer from bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and schizophrenia. Some of the common drugs most people use to calm their manic states are: cocaine, heroine, PCP (angel dust), opium, alcohol, and tranquilizers/sedatives. All of these drugs affect the portions of the brain that release pleasure chemicals (Dopamine) and the fight or flight response (Adrenaline/Epinephrine) to calm their states of anxiety or manic so that they can function normally.

So whenever you think you're looking at a weird movie with an indie feel and there is some hidden function behind it, like the lobotomy operation in Sucker Punch, and all of a sudden you're transported to a world within a world, a mind within a mind, and then you realize you just had a mental trip. Keep in mind that a schizophrenic is not the lightest at heart. If you know someone who suffers from schizophrenia or have a genetic link to the disease, I suggest you get treatment or some form of therapy done quickly before it gets worse. A mental illness is just as powerful as anyone who is in control of your life, take care of yourself and your mind, it is a powerful weapon. Tune in next time for the final chapter of the movie blogs.
