Gobble Gobble Special: Thanksgiving Report

Since it is November, no this isn't about the fifth of November, I thought it would be a great idea to do a Thanksgiving special. First off, what wast he cause or the original Thanksgiving? Second, how did Thanksgiving become a national holiday? Third, do people around the world besides the US also celebrate Thanksgiving? Well good thing I did my research because I am going to talk about the big Turkey.

1. In the United States, Thanksgiving didn't become a holiday until 1863, the same year the slaves were freed from their bonds to their white masters. Lincoln wanted to create a day to celebrate and praise the benefit of Our Father who lives in Heaven and give glory to him. The whole purpose of Thanksgiving is to give thanks and pray to God Almighty for the wonders and the world he has given us.

2. Movies that depict Indians and Europeans talking with each other, are not all of what they seem. In fact when the Europeans came from across the pond, they were not welcomed at all. The Europeans used them as a means to an end, sometimes not in the way they Indians intended. The Indians were often given blankets full of small pox from the Europeans, or were placed into slavery by some of the colonies. In fact, Plymouth Massachusetts has a small tribe of Wampanoag Indians who celebrate a day of mourning for the loss of their own men.

3. Thanksgiving is celebrated in other parts of the world by people in Australia, Canada, and Puerto Rico, but their Thanksgivings are celebrated outside the month of October.

Thanksgiving is considered another religious holiday for the purpose of thanking the Lord and give praise to his creation of Earth, Space, and Humans. So now let us all enjoy the ways in which some religious feeling has put us in the mood for Turkey.
